Sunday march 2 ,the air was crisp (5degrees) sunny with an air density of 97.
my brother in law on his mxz which is ported with a trick rotary valve,k&n filters,u.f.o.s and silencer decides he wants to race planning on an easy win.
Boy did i wreck his day ,i got the holeshot by 2 sled lentghs every time and kept pulling away all the way up to about 105 mph then we'd let off.
raced 12 times, he was franticaly clicking away on his clutches and acm in the rear while i just sat on my sled waiting for another kill.
the zert took him every time it was great.
i honestly didn't know this sled had this much power as i have ridden his mxz many times and it hauls...........but not as much as mine.
He is coming back this weekend for another round. :D

i'm glad it was good for you. the 97 is a good zrt year, not as good as 96, but good. just don't get too cocky in the victory lane. there are plenty of really good set up mxz 670's that will make you scratch your head. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying yours is a slouch, just be careful. and again good job. keep him wrenching. :D

congradulations on ur kill. on my 01 zrt, i raced a couple sleds two of them were a MXZ 670, and a polaris xlt 680, i started about 50 feet behind everyone, we all decked it a blew by the other sleds, blew by the 680, cought up to and passed the 670! i was impressed! had i run them all side by side it would have been one hell off a kill.

I think you mean 580 XLT, Polaris never made a 680 triple, unless the guy did some goofy engine work!

The 95 zrt 600 was the strongest 600 cat made
in my opion as it handled the rest of 600 cats pretty easy.
By the the way a 670 (99or so)in the right hands will
show you his tail .I ran 114.8 in the 1\4 mile on the pavement
and the best 600 cat at the track(that was screwed with)went 110.
the 670 had run 112.Just know the guy your running so it`s not
posted on the Ski-doo site.Always so one out there packing

I stand corrected. The Ultra was a 680 triple, just not the XLT.

CAPER711CC DID THEY MAKE A 95 ZRT 600 I THOUGHT THEY MADE THE 800 ZRT THAT YEAR AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE I THOUGHT THE ZRT 600 FIRST CAME OUT IN 96 PRODUCTION.BUT PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'AM WRONG.BECAUSE I'AM INTRESTED IN PICKING UP A 96 ZRT FOR A LITTLE GRASS DRAGGING AND DEFINETILY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS 95 600 ZRT'S OUT THERE. THANX!!!!

yes there was a95 zrt 600,it was different than the 96 and it was a late year edition, didnt make it to the amsnow shoot out,but brian sturgeon did win the f3 eagle river world championship, brian sturgeon was f3 answer to todays blair morgan or should i say tucker hibbert.any ways 95s had a little hotter pipe than made more peak horsepower,96s were close when pipes were sealed properly,if you read dynotech you would see stock zrt600 making over 130hp w/ sealed pipes and good tuning.they had to slowly detune these 600s over the years because they were too close to the 800s.even with all of todays muscle, its still hard to get by a good tuned zrt600.boy do i miss formula 3 racing, that was exciting watching 170hp machines neck and neck down the straights at speeds of around 100mph,to bad yamaha had to screw that up too, please bring oval racing back to its glory days.

THANX TORX!SO THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE THAT IS WHAT I WAS WONDERING.THATS COOL I DID NOT KNOW THAT.YEAH MY UNCLE HAS A 96 ZERT AND FOR IT BEING 8 YEARS OLD SLED WISE IT IS STILL VERY HARD TO GET BY FOR ALMOST ANYONE 800 STOCK AND BELOW.I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IMPRESSED.SO TO ASK YOU ANOTHER QUESTION TORX,I HEARD THAT THEY STARTED TO MAKE THE ZRT PIPES SMALLER AFTER 96 IS THAT TRUE OR IS THAT WHAT YOU MEANT WHEN YOU STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE PIPES AND THE HEATING OF THEM????THANX FOR THE ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!

#17 ·
Torx you did a fine job of explaining the difference`s.
I was lucky enough to get it Xmas eve of `94 .It was poorly
clutched, carbs messed up and broke most things twice(ended
up with front frame section out a T-cat to anchor this aniamal
down. This sled set up ran strong!!

beleive it or not ,if i remember correctly there was only a 10mm difference in the head pipe.you have to remember back in the early to middle 90s before sno-cross was big, company pride meant being competitive in formula3,so when these motors were designed ,they were designed to make up to 170hp,factory hot rods.actually i think yamaha and ski-doo ruined f3,yamaha for not having a class sled and ski-doo for dominating year after year, yamaha blew it in sno-cross also by not having class sled for pro-stock{440}yes there were some minor problems with zerts, minor though,we had to install motor mount gussets, clutch updates, pipe sealing, but nothing big.like i said though put a little compression to them, make em hook and come out hard and you will be surprising some of these big twins of today!

The 670 is coming up tommorrow for another go at it,also bringing his brother with a v-max 700we will line up all three and see what happens.i'll post the results after.
was hanging out at the terrainX races today ,checked out a thundercat tuning up for tommorrow,he would lift the skis about 6 inches and hold them there for over a city blocksuper quick!!!!
so far the cats have dominated the snocross.

PUREE,it was an easy kill, definately a CAT AGAINST THE MOUSE GAME ALTHOUGH it took me a half a season to get her from slouch to killer kat i think i will keep this sled for a while.
